BERRY FIELD TRIP ADVENTURES
Beginning this year we are proud to announce choices in the subject matter of our field trips. This will give you, the educator, greater freedom to select the field trip curriculum that may fit with what you are teaching in class. Below are listed the Adventures. Select the one you wish and then click on the RESERVATION LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
TRACK A: "THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY" This ninety minute field trip studies which insects farmers love and which they dislike as well as how beneficial insects are used in organic farming practices. Through a video, talk and hands on demonstrations a greater understanding and appreciation will be had by the student regarding the challenges in organic farming. Included in the ninety minute field trip is berry picking (strawberry or raspberry whichever is in season) whereby the class will take a hayride out to the berry fields to enjoy picking a pint of berries. Colorado Teaching Standards: Life Science 3.1 & 3.3 Costs: $5.00/student (minimum charge: $60.00)
TRACK B: "TO BEE OR NOT TO BEE": This ninety minute field trip explores the fascinating world of bees. An informative video and talk as well as a tour of the Honey House will compliment the student's understanding of bees and their respective importance in agriculture. Included in the ninety minute field trip is berry picking (strawberry or raspberry whichever is in season) whereby the class will take a hayride out to the berry fields to enjoy picking a pint of berries. Colorado Teaching Standards: Life Science 3.1; Math 1 & 4. Costs: $5.00/student (minimum charge: $60.00)
TRACK C: "FIELD TO FORK" This ninety minute field trip explores how crops are grown and harvested including water and soil subtopics. Through a video and talk and hands on exhibits, students will have a better perspective on how things grow "down on the farm." Included in the ninety minute field trip is berry picking (strawberry or raspberry whichever is in season), hayride to the field to pick a pint of berries. Colorado Teaching Standards: Life Science 3.4, 4.1, 5; History 4.1 Costs: $5.00/student (minimum charge: $60.00)
TRACK D: "WEATHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT" Coming Fall of '08
TRACK E: ABBREVIATED TOUR: This 45 minute tour includes hayride and berry picking, one pint per student (strawberry or raspberry whichever is in season. Parents and siblings will not be charged for the hayride, but will be expected to pay for berries picked. Cost: $4.00/student ......minimum charge $30.00.
Notes: Field Trip Adventures are designed for groups of 15 or more school age children. Public/private school teachers and home school coordinators are free. Parents and siblings may take the tour at no charge, but will be expected to pay for berries if applicable. Parents may be asked to help during the tour.
GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES:
-please be on time; if your group is late, the length of tour may have to be
shortened
-"no shows" or groups canceling in less than 7 days of scheduled field trip will
be billed at the rate of $2.00/child.
-all cancellations or changes of reservations must be made by email:

-all monies for field trips need to be paid in one amount (cash / check/money
order/credit card) at the time of check-in.
- In the event of inclement
weather….Tim will telephone the contact person either the day before or morning
of the scheduled field trip. Every effort will be made to reschedule, but there
will be no penalty if this cannot happen.
