Like a plane that’s finally pushed off from the gate and is now starting to lift off the ground as it races down the runway, so is the summer production here. We haven’t yet hit cruising altitude with full production but we’re off the ground and gaining altitude quickly! Here are some current highlights as we continue to soar.
Salsa verde bags are in! These are “grab and go” for quickly and easily making your own batch of fresh, delicious and nutritious tomatillo salsa. It freezes easily and is versatile for many recipes as well as tasty and healthy snacking.
Italian Torpedo onions are a late summer treat and a favorite. They are spindle-shaped and especially delicious for salads. Try pairing them with any of our specialty cucumbers, lilac bell peppers and orange and red salad tomatoes for great color and flavor. Our sweet Candy onions are also in!
Lilac bell peppers – gorgeous and unusual, these are lime green on the inside and lightly sweet. They turn gray when cooked so they are best used fresh in salads.
Merlot peppers are the color of fine wine, thick walled and tasty. Ivory are mild and juicy, a favorite. Find out why shishito and padron are so beloved by chefs.
Eggplants – beyond eggplant parmesan, think easy and fabulous baba ganoush, ratatouille and just grilling or roasting. Grill 1/4 inch rounds and place on top of grilled sourdough, top with smoked provolone, stick under the broiler for a moment and top with chopped fresh basil and tomato. Yum!
Romano beans are so delicious! Toss them with olive oil and roast your new favorite. Don’t overlook the succulent yellow and the purple that are lightly sweet and crunchy raw. These are a great kid snack dipped in ranch, balsamic vinaigrette for adults. We have plenty of traditional and beautiful green beans as well.
PEACHES – lusciously sweet, tree-ripened, chin-dripping Colorado peaches are in! Boxes of irregularly sized number 2 peaches will be available for 2 weeks only this year. They will need to be picked up promptly and processed promptly. They are cling-free. Pricing is $26 for a 20 lb. box, prepaid.
For pick-up after 12 noon on August 22nd and the remainder of that week, we MUST receive your order by 1 pm. on August 17th. For pick up after noon on August 29th and that week, we must receive your order by 1 pm. August 24th. To order, call and leave a message with your name, number of boxes and phone number if you don’t reach a live person. We will call you back for payment and confirmation.
Boxes of number one (perfect peaches) are also available for ordering. Ordering dates are the same – pricing is $44 for a 20 lb. box.
PICK YOUR OWN:
Strawberries and raspberries are just starting to come on. Fields will close when we the ripe fruit has been harvested so come early for the best opportunity. The fields open at 8 am.
Flowers are in their full glory, as is basil. Pickling cucumbers are producing bountifully. We have plenty of fresh dill for pickling and we cut it fresh for you.
HOURS – We are currently open from 8 am until 1 pm on Tuesdays AND Thursdays and 8 am until 2 pm on Saturdays.
Our market is filling rapidly – more of our 42 pepper varieties are ripening, more tomatoes are ripe, melons will be coming on and we will be roasting chilis soon!
