Seasonal change is upon us after a prolonged warm and dry autumn. We've had a number of requests for winter CSA. We are able to offer a Winter share this year and, as in the past, are offering it to prior CSA members first.
The winter CSA is offered for pickup at the farm exclusively, due to the challenges with weather for delivery in the winter. Pickup is on Saturdays from 10 - 2 pm unless prior arrangements are made.
The number of shares offered during the winter is much more limited than summer and I need to note that our produce offerings are also more limited this winter than in past winters (as a consequence of this last summer's drought and heat) but the quality is good.
Potatoes, various types of onions, microgreens and shoots will be staples with a combination of root vegetables, frozen veggies and hopefully some fresh greens from the hoophouse and/or field (weather will play a big factor).
As always, I will try to include a combination of produce that makes for good meals and is as nutritionally balanced as possible. Shares will include 6 - 8 items. The season runs from January 10 through February 23rd, noting that severe weather may alter that schedule but will total 8 weeks regardless.
